Title: Password security makes document unreadable
Post by: Webster Tilton on October 16, 2019, 04:30:43 PM
This just started happening today. Putting a password on a PDF now makes it unreadable. Any idea what's going on or how we can fix this?

I will need a sample PDF, before the password security applied, so I can check for what's wrong. You may attached it to a forum reply, a forum personal message to me, or send it to the software support email address shelltools at rttsoftware.com

It seems the 256 bit AES encryption fails randomly, producing corrupted PDFs when this happens. If this is the encryption method you are using, that is probably the issue you are experiencing.
There is no workaround for the issue, so the 256 bit AES method is unreliable for the current 3.3. version. I will have it fixed in the next release.
Thank you for reporting the problem.
