Hello,
I am trying to find out who created a certain PDF file. Is there any information stored in the PDF? Is there any PDF file specifications that show what is stored where, or is there an area that can contain any sort of information that the generating software decides to put there?
Where can I find more information about this topic?
Thanks

PDFs indeed can contain a metadata section, but even if that section exist, and is filled, don't prove the information present is correct.
Document author can put anything on that section metadata fields. Some PDF software creators fill these fields automatically with system gathered information, etc..
Take a look to the PDF Explorer (http://www.rttsoftware.com/pdfe.html) tool. Scan your files and you will see what's stored on your PDFs metadata.
if you want to understand where that metadata is physical stored, check next link for more information regarding the PDF format specifications.

Take a look to the "Document Information Dictionary" chapter.

Yes, of course, why do you ask? Having trouble finding the download link?!!
Get it from the downloads (http://www.rttsoftware.com/downloads.html) page.
